The Kyoto Arc of Rurouni Kenshin will now be animated for the third time. God knows why, but everyone knew this was going to happen. There's no point remaking Rurouni Kenshin if you aren't going to do the best arc.
The big question always comes after this point. Will they animate the Enishi stuff or not? The original anime didn't, so it would be genuinely useful to the world if this remake did. I guess we'll find out in a couple years.
Dragon Ball Super Heroes was already dumb filler, but at least it was animated Dragon Ball with lots of recognizable nostalgic faces and voices. Now it's a primitive looking cg that's even more embarrassing. At this point it has sunk beneath the waves of watchability and is officially dropped. I probably should have dropped this show on the first episode but oh well.
Meanwhile I'm watching Dragon Ball Kai Recut, the first time I've seen the show without any filler, and it's amazing. Filler-less Dragon Ball is way better than what we've been fed up until now. I'm up to Vegeta vs. Android 18.
One Piece is also being remade for some unbeknownst reason. The original One Piece was already perfect, there's no need to redo it, the only thing that needs to be done is editing. If you cut out the filler and the slow pacing you could make One Piece great again at any moment. The fan group One Pace already exists for this purpose, no remake is necessary. If Japan officially embraced, funded, and turbocharged the One Pace fan group so that they released their One Piece 'Kai' faster that would be helpful, but this remake is the equivalent of throwing money down a black hole instead. The anime industry makes no sense.
Bowl Season has begun. Some of the games were good but most weren't. Next Saturday's slate of games should be more exciting.
I can't do my traditional end of year summary until I see the Sailor Moon Cosmos films and the end of the fall anime season -- that's a large part of this year's quality and it still hasn't happened yet. But I'm eager to do it once the opportunity arrives.
