Rise Up Dream:

I've only begun my rewatch of Extreme Hearts and already found two new things to love.  The first is Saki Kodaka, Hiyori's best friend and #1 fan.  Not only is she passionate, skilled and determined, she's absolutely beautiful:

Purple eyes, long bangs and a sidetail combine for an Extremely rare treasure.  Then watch her nimbly jump and kick and sprint around and you see that perfect body of hers isn't just for show, it's exactly as good as it looks.  Oh and on top of that she's an idol who can dance and sing, too.

With this many qualities I could no longer exclude her from my fictional character hall of fame, so I inserted her into '100 Waifus' as Sakura Mamiya's daughter in place of Renge.  Renge is also pretty, and she's from the same Kyoukai no Rinne franchise as Sakura, and her name is unique compared to Saki's name which is extremely common, but all of that together still isn't enough to deny Saki her rightful place.  Saki's just too good.  And Renge, on the other hand, is evil.  A damashigami who tricks people to their deaths who aren't supposed to die yet just to rack in extra monetary rewards for escorting additional souls to the nether world.  Now, granted, Renge was only forced into this job track due to a series of unfortunate coincidences and always wanted to be a good person, and at the end of the series she does do the right thing and save lives for once -- but still.  Still.  She's been killing people left and right for years, so 'doing the right thing' at the end doesn't really amount to much.  I'm not sure that really qualifies you for a hall of fame, or being ranked among the 600 best girls in fiction.  Saki never went around killing people.  All she does is help her friends and entertain myriads with her athleticism and artistry.  Between her job and Renge's, the gap is nigh infinity.

The second thing to love is the insert song of episode 3, 'Rise up Dream.'  Bizarrely, the opening and ending theme of this show are awful, especially given it's an idol anime featuring professional singers as the main characters.  But the insert song, the 'live performance' by the idols themselves, is exactly what you'd expect from an idol show.  It's genuinely professional class and master class.  This song stars Hiyori, who's also a great girl and already in my hall of fame.  Soon enough I'll have listened to this song 100 times and then it can enter my music hall of fame.  Which means Extreme Hearts is now a great anime, a great song and a beautiful anime girl and a fictional character hall of fame representative.  Four different honors for four different things.  And I've only rewatched the first three episodes.  If it's this good in three episodes what's in store for the remaining nine?  Of course, I already knew this series was amazing, which is why it's already ranked #109 after only twelve episodes.  But if the second season is as good as this one even #109 may be an underestimation.  This is so much better than Honzuki.
