We're in the home stretch! Based on prior speed, the last 200 songs will be rated by the 10th. After that, if there are any overflows, a process will be taken to smooth things out, so that all five categories have an equal number of songs assigned to them, 1100, 20% of the whole. I don't know how many days that will take. In addition I need to get my new entries, the 25 or so substitutes I've suddenly plopped down into the hall of fame, to their required 100 listens threshold, to go from 'provisional' to 'actual.'
Then, when all the dust has settled, it will be time to make an all-new music hall of fame with the all-important rating data added in, alongside a ranking of the best composers by quality x quantity points, instead of mere quantity. Because Blogger has such a hard time handling large posts, I'll divide the music hall of fame into 5 easily digestible bites of 1100 songs a piece. Surely even Blogger's crappy software can keep up with that.
So let's say by the 15th it'll all be over. Basically a week from now. A quest that started six years ago.
Currently none of my categories have overflowed, the bigger problem is the stubborn 4-star category still not having remotely enough entries: 1 star is at 1084/1100, 2 star 1083/1100, 3 star 1064/1100, 4 star 1001/1100, and 5 star at 1068/1100.
In other words, I can assign the remaining 200 songs in this ratio without overflowing: 1-star: 8%, 2-star: 8.5%, 3-star 18%, 4-star 49.5%, 5-star 16%.
I doubt half the remaining songs will be exactly 4-star quality, so I'll have to look over things afterwards and fix some of my past ratings to get things proper. During this preliminary rating period I'm just going with my gut without regards to the overflow or underflow consequences. However, longer songs tend to be better, so a lot of the missing 4-star songs will be found in these last 200. The situation is already pretty close to accurate.
It hurts to only have 32 slots left for 5-star songs. I tend to immediately rate a song I like as 5-star but now I'm going to have to be very parsimonious with the remaining openings. That or demote some previous 5-star songs to make room. . .
