I even rewatched the currently airing Edens Zero, Battle Athletes Restart, Tropical Rouge Pretty Cure, Boku no Hero Academia S5, and the recent Grisaia Stargazer ova and the Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare movie. Everything. Everything is done! Full clear.
Now I can say with a straight face that every series in my rankings is good enough to be watched multiple times and still impress me each and every time. Nothing enters my rankings lightly, they all earned their place through indisputable merit. They are all must-see TV.
For a long time now I've set the bar at great as something I could watch and rewatch and still approve of. I promised I'd rewatch everything that's great within 3 years without a blu-ray release or 2 years with a blu-ray release as proof of my sincerity. Well, now I've gone and rewatched everything, even the stuff that came out days ago. There's no more room for doubt, the promise is utterly and totally fulfilled.
With this proof which required decades of effort to provide given, now is a good time to take my rankings seriously and give these series a try. Your targets for viewing are all laid out for you: http://diamed-the-road-less-traveled.blogspot.com/2013/07/top-anime-rankings.html
These series are great, seriously great, I can't make it any clearer. From here on it's up to you.
That doesn't mean these 200 franchises will stay the best 200 franchises forever, the future is always improving which means the past will always be left behind. Soon enough the series at the bottom of these rankings will start falling off, to be replaced by all-new masterpieces, but that doesn't mean the current listings are somehow flawed, it just means the future is even brighter. Both the current ratings and the future ratings are equally valid.
Within the same year I managed to get my rankings to finally pierce 9,000 (The Dragon Ball Z number for awesome) and rewatched. It feels like a completed journey. Boy it's been a long time since I started on both those goals.
I also rewatched Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shou, in case I felt the need to include it in my rankings, but after careful deliberation I decided it didn't live up to the rest of the Wake Up brand and left it as a rewatched also-ran. One of 29 series that weren't great enough.
It's hard reaching my rankings. Most series are dropped by the first episode, or even ignored due to the synopsis description before they even air. Then if you get by that there's still a good chance you'll be dropped before you air in full. And then even if you make it that far, you have to be good enough to make me want to rewatch the show as well. And then even if it works and I rewatch the show, there's still 29 rejections left. Only after you conquer all those cutoffs do you make my rankings. They're the best of the best.
Now that I've made it to the 'full clear' finish line, I can relax and go back to the three years of grace time period of before for future additions. I have nothing left I need to prove.
My next goal isn't anime related, it's musical. I need to listen to everything in my music hall of fame at least 100 times so I can prove my music as good as my rewatchable anime. I just made that mission a little harder today by adding two more Wake Up, Girls! songs to my collection -- 7 Girls War and 7 Senses. Back up to 5481 songs. 3140 of which I've yet to hit that 100 mark with. But I'm making steady progress. The median play count is 85, so only 15 more cycles to go. It hasn't quite taken decades to finish this music project like it did my anime project, but it's getting up there. >.<.
