I still don't know enough about this series -- for instance, what genre is it? I placed it as a 'comedy' from what I've seen so far, but will it really stay a comedy until the end? Who is the best character in the story so that I can add them to the fictional character hall of fame in '100 Waifus'? Will the world really end?
But I do know enough to say one thing -- this is a great anime. Jun Maeda has done it again. Purely as a comedy it would be great, regardless of what happens next. I've been laughing uproariously every episode. The music is spectacular, the visuals are gorgeous. I expected this would be a homerun based on the talent involved and it is. It's actually one of the best anime to air this year.
In time maybe we'll learn more about this unique plot (how often does God descend to warn mankind of judgment day and get totally ignored in favor of school entrance exams?). For now I'm content.
To produce three wholly new entries into the anime hall of fame, when before 2020 hadn't introduced any, what a great fall season.
To make room I kicked out Bastard!, which eminently deserved kicking out. At a mere six episode oav, made in the ancient past, not following the manga, not covering even a small portion of the manga's story, the only thing it really had going for it was the art and voice acting. It's kind of sad that it was able to last this long, it was never even released in HD, but I've finally found a champion to slay it. Bastard! is still honored in my manga hall of fame so nothing is really lost anyway.
Whatever Trump does it won't be enough, the American people believe Biden was elected in a landslide. The biggest problem with Trump's 'I was robbed' narrative is that Biden is up millions of votes in the popular vote, so the will of the people is decisively with him, and it's actually Trump who is trying to steal the election through legal loopholes. The basic problem is if you believe in democracy you should believe in the will of the majority, not an arcane arbitrary rule set like the electoral college. Perhaps in exchange for some voter security measures -- like everyone needing to have photo ID and voting in person and all votes required to be counted and announced by midnight of election day simultaneously -- we could abolish the electoral college and let true democracy decide. We could make it a constitutional amendment both Republicans and Democrats would support. Then something positive could come out of this dumpster fire.
Another positive thing we learned this election -- every demographic group is persuadable. You can win the black vote, you can win the Asian vote, you can win the Hispanic vote. We aren't doomed by demographic change, because we can always win a larger percentage share of these demographics like we did this time. You just need an appealing candidate and platform. We won 40% of the Hispanic vote in Texas. That's nearly the same as how whites vote. Rather than bemoaning minority voters, why not bemoan whatever is turning minority voters off from our party and changing those policies? It could be guns, or health care, or welfare, it might help to actually go out and ask them. It clearly isn't immigration -- that's popular among minorities because they don't want their jobs stolen or wages crushed either! Trump's tough on immigration policy won him the largest share of minority voters in decades.
It isn't affirmative action either. The majority of California is minority, and yet it upheld a ban on affirmative action by an overwhelming 12 percentage points. We can ban affirmative action and be popular with Hispanics, Asians, blacks, etc. We can be tough on crime and be popular with these groups. There is no reason to continue losing these voting blocs. It's time to find common ground.
These groups are not mindless destroyers voting for whatever is the most evil choice possible each election. They are sentient actors who want what is best for their families. In fact I find coastal elite whites to be more crazed and destructive in their voting patterns than minorities. Just look at Oregon and their legalizing of hard drugs like heroin for recreational use. What majority minority state votes for stuff like that?
The wind is in our sails. If we continue converting blacks and Hispanics to the Republican banner we'll rout the urbanized white fools of the west and east coast every time. They outspent us ten to one and still lost everything but the presidency. Their dog food doesn't sell. We can do this.
