4 names changed:

Honzuki no Gekokujou has an english subbed blu-ray release now, which can be found over at nyaa.si.  This is a pretty quick release since it only finished airing last December.  The show is going to resume in April so perhaps waiting until it's all over would be preferable to diving right back in, but it's nice to have these things stored away in one's back pocket.

The heroine in 'I'm not a lolicon!' made another reference to events and characters from Mujaki no Rakuen, proving the two manga to be part of a larger franchise whole -- much like Negima/UQ Holder, so combining the two in my great manga listings was the right decision.

Hinata and Chiyu from Healin' Good Precure are as great characters as I anticipated so I'm extremely happy with my decision to add them to my fictional character hall of fame.

Speaking of, I've decided to switch four additional names out.  Masaomi, Genjuurou, Aya and Koharu, all from Senren * Banka, will be replacing Yuri, Yuri, Tellah and Gilbart.

Masaomi > Yuri from Alien Nine because he's a problem solver while Yuri's just a crybaby.  I plan on kicking Alien Nine out of my top anime rankings entirely next chance I get so there's no need to represent it any further in my fictional character hall of fame.  I really like how Masaomi starts off as a normal boy but when he sees the need to act he changes into someone reliable, hardworking, strong and brave enough to save his city.  It's amazing how much one can do when circumstances allow them to display their mettle (and when the world isn't keeping them down.)

Genjuurou > Yuri from Ao Haru Ride because Genjuurou supports others' happiness while Yuri tries to sabotage Futaba's.  Genjuurou is the coolest grandpa in all of fiction.  I grow more amazed by him the more time I spend with him, he's really adorable.  When Masaomi and Koharu, his two grandchildren who are cousins to each other, tell him they love each other and wish to marry, he not only gives his blessing, he even defends them forcefully.  He says in his day cousin marriage was common, and it's still legal to this day so why shouldn't they?  He knows both of them are great people and he's just genuinely happy to see both his grandchildren find happiness.

Though that's Grandpa's greatest moment, he's awesome everywhere else too.  He helps train Masaomi so that he can perform a holy ritual with such vigor that he wears himself out, and promises to commit seppuku in apology for not training him well enough if Masaomi fails.  It reminded me of when Guy promised to kill himself if Lee's surgery failed.  Absolute dedication to his disciple!

Him stumbling over his words groveling before Murasame-sama, the city's 500 year old guardian deity, is so cute.  Genjuurou has so many different sides to him!

Aya (ie Murasame) > Tellah because she has beautiful green hair just like Rydia, so it makes sense that she'd be Rydia's daughter.  Plus I love her old Japanese dialect, her combination of youthful innocence and 500 year old wisdom, her jealousy, her sense of humor, and her dedication to serve.  Compare that to Tellah who goes around sabotaging his daughter's love life, and then dies in a kamikaze attack that doesn't even work.  Not much to hang a hat on there.

Koharu > Gilbart because she's perfect.  Her voice and facial expressions are incredibly cute, she adores her 'oniichan,' (actually her cousin Masaomi but close enough) and treats him lovingly from start to finish, while caring for her actual older brother the best she can given how annoying and feckless he can be, and being kind and helpful to everyone else she meets.  She's hardworking as a waitress and innkeeper (even as a tour guide!), but she's most fulfilled when she's having fun -- chatting with friends, eating, making love -- she has the right priorities in life.  She lives honestly and demands honesty from those around her, like Roka who also had a crush on Masaomi.  And part of that is having the bravery to love her cousin and seduce him down the path of darkness no matter what other people might say about them.  She knows being with the man she loves is worth anything.  Compare that to the coward Gilbart, who always hides the moment an enemy shows up, and struggles beating a single Sahagin.  The moment Gilbart (known as Edward in the English version of Final Fantasy IV, all the more reason to remove his name due to this confusion) stops being a wimp at heart he ends up getting his ass kicked by Golbez and retires.  Not a very scintillating record to hang your hat on, even if it has a foppish feather.

I've played enough Senren * Banka to be confident no further names from it are worthy of the fictional character hall of fame, but 4 characters is already high praise.  This is an amazing visual novel, but in a different way from Summer Pockets.  Summer Pockets is a heart wrenching tale of a single father-daughter bond.  It has emotional heft.  Senren * Banka is a more sprawling adventure with a lovely setting and tons of great dialogue and character designs, but it's always light hearted and simple.  It's better than Sanoba Witch and Dracu Riot, but it's still in the same vein of humor.  Key works are on an entirely different plane of existence.

There's still room for more characters to enter my hall of fame, as there are still some weaknesses I'd like to shore up, but this took a major divot out of them.  I'm so glad I bought this game and got to know so many new wonderful people.  All the necessary edits to '100 Waifus' have been made so now's as good a time as any to dive in and enjoy.
