100 Waifus Editing Complete:

The 8th read-through turned out to be vitally necessary, given all the mistakes still requiring correction, but now it's finally done.

Of the many corrections, I switched a lot of children's names from their fictional source's last name to said source's first name, which is the rule whenever possible.  I also switched out some children entirely for other more deserving fictional source characters.

There were many confusingly worded segments that hopefully have been ironed out to be easier to understand.

Some plot holes and inconsistencies were filled in/explicated.

In order to make sure that all 100 of my waifus at some point were given a line of their own, making them protagonists and not just footnotes, I added in a line for Nayuki and Rin Nohara.

Since it isn't worth re-reading the entire book to find these lines, I'll just provide them here:

Louise was still our important emissary to Earth who maintained our internet connection if nothing else, so that just left Nayuki.  She decided to join the school as a track and field coach and open up another sport the kids could participate in.  “With eternal youth, I wonder how many times I can beat my own personal bests?”  She asked me with stars in her eyes, displaying quite the ulterior motive. -- From Chapter 29.

Girls' Side:
Ganbatte Christopher!  I'm always watching you.  Rin Nohara thought to herself as she watched her Hokage desperately attempting to bond with all thousand of his kids in a single day with a deep and abiding smile. -- Last paragraph in the entire book.  THE END.

I wish I could have gone further into Rin Nohara's mentality: having died in her original source and subsequently been revived in Eden, while also getting to fulfill her originally unrequited and rejected love with Kakashi, she felt extremely blessed.  But precisely because she had no complaints she never spoke up to the very end.  Hopefully this extra paragraph fills in the gaps in as pithy and poetic a manner possible, while still preserving her unique trait in the story of never having said a single thing.

The other 98 already properly had lines of their own before now, though many of them are extremely short.  It's the principle of the thing, it at least shows they truly existed and weren't just figments of Christopher's imagination.

I'm sure there were other edits/proofreading corrections but they're too minor to belabor.  After 8 read throughs there should be nothing remaining wrong with the book.  I spent a lot of time and effort making sure of it, so if you haven't read the story yet now's the best time to dive in.  You'll get the most perfected and polished, completed and finished version this time around.

Needless to say, if I can read the same book eight times in 4 months, it has to be a good book.  It should also be easy for anyone else to read it merely once in their life.

I might actually read it for a 9th time just to be able to leisurely sit back and read a finished version without having to worry about editing and proofreading anymore.  The book is good enough that it would still be enjoyable all over again.

Here are the links to read the whole story in proper order for people too lazy to check the story out via the permapost sidebar:

(I know it says part 7 but it's actually part 5, the final part, don't worry about it)

I published what I thought was the completed book in February.  I had no idea this book would take on a life of its own and absorb me all the way into June.  But its final form is infinitely better than what I started with, so it was all worth it.
