This was an excellent book. The story progressed quickly -- they escaped Parano. We learned more about Shihoru, one of my favorite characters in the story. The random thought streams of other side characters were thoughtful and interesting as well.
My overall complaint with the series remains the same, it's way too random. But it's well written randomness. In fact, this is the best value added light novel series in existence. So I'm looking forward to volume 15 when it comes out too. Though for some reason the next two volumes are called 14+ and 14++. Either way.
Meanwhile, I dropped Battle with Celestan and Arise Death Knight from my music hall of fame. They weren't good enough to listen to 100 times. Down to 5403 songs. It would be pretty cool if I could sink down to exactly 5400. . .
It is frustrating how short these volumes are. You wait months or years for the book to come out and then finish it in a matter of hours. It always feels so anti-climactic. I prefer video games for this reason, you can actually play them for 100 hours and get actual value for your dollar. That's why I purchased a copy of Dragon Quest XI, which should hopefully be more fun and a lot longer experience than Hai to Gensou, but it's still en route shipping so who knows if it's going to be good or not.
