Chasov Yar has fallen:

It's been over two years and two months since Bakhmut fell, and finally the next city to the west of it, just 10km west, has fallen to the Russian advance.  World War I battle lines change much more quickly than this Special Military Operation.  What's special about this war is its snail's pace.

But what's important is the job is finally done.  Now Russia has secured 2 of the 5 cities it needed to secure to win the war.  Toretsk and Chasov Yar, the two cities on either side of Konstantynivka, have both been liberated by Russian arms.  Now all that's left is to pluck the large city of Konstantynivka like a ripe plum.  Chasov Yar had a lot of favorable geography on its side, as did Toretsk, but now the terrain all favors Russia.  Konstantynivka's position is already a fatal weakness to its defense.  This is why taking Chasiv Yar and Toretsk was so valuable.  With those two fortress cities down, there shouldn't be anything as difficult to take in this sector for the rest of the war.

There are 3 more fortress cities Russia is struggling to take -- Kupiansk, Pokrovsk and Siversk -- but Russia is making slow progress in taking them too.  It's only a matter of time.  Just like how it took 2 years to take Chasiv Yar but it still eventually fell.  Once those strongholds fall Ukraine will find it difficult to hold anything, and the war will rapidly accelerate until a full rout and total surrender.

The snail's pace war will only last while those 3 strongholds still stand.  After that it's off to the races.

I rewatched all of the Kimi to Idol Precure season that's aired, so that completes my Precure Rewatch project.  Now the only great anime I haven't rewatched is Summer Pockets and Koujo Denka, the series that are still currently airing.  That's a promise fulfilled.  I also finished rewatching Major (which includes Major 2nd), then AKB0048, and moved on to Clannad and Cross Game.  All of this after I finished my One Piece rewatch.  It's nothing but masterpieces for me, one after the next.

Russia is such a joke, how can anyone take them seriously after watching this war I'll never understand. Yeah guys, good job you've taken three years to get 2 cities, wow amazing work.
