Rie and Alice:

I've added two new characters to my Wonderful Fictional Characters hall of fame, replacing two side characters from Unicorn Overlord to make room.  Travis and Leah are good looking, heroic warriors, but there isn't much more to their characters.  Alice and Rie are more fully fleshed out people.

Alice is the lovable bat girl from Major, the owner/cheerleader of the Bats triple A team located in Memphis.  She has a great dynamic with Goro and the team as a whole and eventually cheers her team all the way to the championship, fulfilling her grandfather's dream before he dies.  Her passion to win and perseverance to keep the Bats in Memphis, as well as her beauty and thrilling fashion sense are extremely memorable.

Rie on the other hand is a forgettable side character from Clannad, a violinist who had to abandon the violin due to an injury and took up choir instead.  Of course she's talented, gritty and beautiful, like all Key work characters are, but the reason I truly respect her is her kindness and compassion.  She doesn't condemn Kotomi for her horrible violin play, but instantly starts offering her advice on how to improve.  She doesn't try to monopolize the choir club advisor, but instantly tries to come up with a compromise that would also help the drama club.  She goes out of her way to hire Nagisa as a waitress in the cafe she's working at despite Nagisa graduating high school two years late (which would make any employer leery).  Every time she's on screen she's being nice or helping someone or giving them something.  I never even noticed Rie when I first watched this series, but now it's like she's everywhere.

Compared to killing lots of obviously evil enemies like Travis does, Rie makes a lot of non-obvious decisions that are still the right thing to do.  I respect that more.

In Heaven Burns Red I finally secured the level 3 limit break for Isuzu that's been pending for months.  Due to random free ticket rolls I also got Byakko's level 2 limit break, though I don't intend to play Byakko.  I'm just happy to have cleaned out my backlog of 'halfway to level 3' characters.  Now everyone is either level 2 or level 3, no '10 shards but not 20' 2.5's.
