Perfect timing. I finish reading one book and the translators finish translating another for me. Now I can read on great Japanese literature without a hitch. Ougimonogatari is pretty good when it talks about all the ways the concept of 'apologizing' and 'forgiveness' can be abused (the ways are legion when you actually start to think about it), but as for the actual mystery resolution it isn't interesting. On the bright side, afterwards the story switches to the other main character these days, Nadeko, and her story is as gripping as ever. I love everything about her.
A lot of the fun of the Bakemonogatari series is based on puns, kanji puns, which are impossible to translate. It's very frustrating to the English reader, but basically you have to ignore all the jokes of this series and rely entirely on the serious scenes. Which is a shame because this series can be really funny. Oh well, half a loaf is better than none.
