It's still a long ways away, but at least it's been confirmed now, there will be new Bleach anime in 2022. The all-important release date exists for both Utawarerumono 3 and Bleach 1000 Year Blood War. I've been waiting for these two series, announced eons ago, for so long. Another ten months is no big deal after all that.
Lots of other series have also been anime green-lit -- Ayakashi Triangle, whose manga I've been reading somewhat reluctantly. Also a bunch of famous series whose manga I haven't read at all -- Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Mato Seihei no Slave. . . They keep announcing the wrong anime, none of these are on my wishlist. *sigh* But who knows, maybe they're great. I have 4 open slots in my top anime rankings waiting for someone or something to impress me, so maybe Spy x Family is just the trick.
Yuuki Yuuna had a nice ending, but it still felt like this entire season was pointless. A reprise of season 2 that nobody asked for. I didn't know why this season was announced in the first place, since everything had been resolved in Season 2, and now I know for a fact this season was purposeless. At least it didn't undo season 2, so it wasn't negative in value, but it's still a bizarre decision to make.
Now I just need the last episode of Selection Project to get a full read on 2021's contribution to anime.
I finished my rewatch of Dragon Ball Kai. The Buu saga is really bad. Worse than the original Dragon Ball arcs. Everything takes way too long -- whether it's Gotenks' fight with Buu, or Vegeto not finishing off Buu when they had their chance, or the Earth not gathering energy for a spirit bomb when requested, or every scene with Mr. Satan. Everything drags out an additional ep or two for no good reason. Buu endlessly regenerating is bad enough, but when everyone's response to Buu is drawn out too it becomes painful. And this was the edited Kai version, shorter than the original Z version. I shudder to think how slow the original was. It's surprising, but the new Super anime was much better than the Buu arc, and possibly even the Cell arc. Super redeemed Dragon Ball in a big way.
Bowl season is underway, Coastal Carolina had a thrilling last second victory over Northern Illinois, and Middle Tennessee State upset Toledo. Today is chock full of bowl games. With bowl season, the NFL Playoffs, the Olympics and then March Madness, the fun really doesn't stop until May!
