Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a Great Movie:

When I see a stellar cast list like Brad Pitt, Leonardo di Caprio, Margot Robbie and others I'm always going to be intrigued.  Combine that with rave reviews from just about everybody and I thought Once Upon a Time in Hollywood might have something to it.  Now that I've seen it for myself I'm sure of it -- this is a great movie.

It takes the ordinary lives of a couple guys just trying to get through life despite their flaws -- an inability to get with the system and play by the rules even though they know that would be best for them.  But they make up for it with courage and generalized decency towards others.

Though the entire movie has its benefits, it could have been narrowed down to all the times Jake Cahill interacts with Trudy Fraser and it would have been just as amazing and perfect as the whole movie together.  Those scenes were fireworks.  I'm not sure there's anything else like them in American cinema.  In fact, the closest comparison I could make was Menma and Jinto in Anohana, and that's high praise.

You'd never imagine a rated R movie would display such innocence and heart.  Since I kicked out two Matrix movies to make room for The Rise of Skywalker yesterday I could easily slot in Hollywood without missing a beat to my great movie hall of fame.
