SAO volume 28 read:

This book was basically explosions from start to finish.  There was very little time for characterization because they were fighting spaceships in Underworld the whole time.  It frustrates me that we had to wait years for this nothing-burger, and now a year after this book was published in Japan, there still isn't a sequel volume that could actually continue the story.

The fight scenes were exciting and high stakes, I don't have any particular complaint with them, but the fact is none of the fights even resolved anything, both sides emerged unscathed.  That's called filler.

The book didn't resolve any mysteries, or fights, or anything at all.  The art wasn't particularly inspired either.  Well, it was good enough to read all in one sitting, so I can't complain too much, but I expect more from Reki Kawahara.  At this point Demons Crest is his better work.

I have a larger overarching complaint -- this is supposed to be the Unital Ring arc, so why is everything happening in Underworld?  Why are we back to Alicization in the first place?  Bleh.
