Fantastic news! This is one of the best manga around that still hasn't received an anime, and now it's getting one. There's plenty of material to adapt so a single season will only be a pecking on the surface, but every show has to start somewhere.
Sousou no Frieren was on my anime wishlist, but now that the wish is granted I've substituted it for a World of Witches sequel. I'd like to see the Neuroi either defeated for good or negotiated with like the beginning of the 2nd season implied. Freeing Berlin didn't mean all the Neuroi were gone, so the anime is still leaving us hanging.
I actually like the early Frieren stuff that had lots of memories of Himmel more than the current stuff which is just about fighting demons. (Though the demons in this story are quite cool and unique). So an anime season dedicated to all those scenes in the early chapters will be pure delicious.
Who knows when the series will air, but once it does it will definitely reach my top anime rankings. But I don't want to give it a slot yet, in October The Eminence in Shadow and Ken Tensei will start airing, and I'll finally have a genuine top 200 anime with every series actually existing again. Sousou no Frieren would spoil that wonderful moment so it will have to wait its turn when it actually starts airing. A true top 200 anime list is only a month away, I refuse for it to be years away again!
Meanwhile, I've rewatched three anime movies that came out in 2022 and needed to be rewatched to count as great -- SAO Progressive 1, Poppin' Dream and Kiniro Mosaic Thank You. They were all good as expected, though nothing all that special. Kiniro Mosaic could really use a better translation but something is better than nothing. I'm getting closer to fulfilling my pledge of all great anime not only being watched but also rewatched and still being as great as I remember it being the first time.
The British monarchy is a farce and should be abolished. No one without power should be called 'king,' 'queen,' 'emperor' or whatever. It's demeaning to people who really do rule. Out of politeness to Queen Elizabeth II who reigned back in a time period when the Queen of England still actually mattered I'm fine with waiting until her death, but now there's no further excuse. It's so phony and stupid. Fake and gay. Either restore power to the monarchy or abolish it, playing pretend any further benefits no one.
Meanwhile, Russia really needs to start fighting seriously in Ukraine. After months of being unable to gain any ground they're now losing ground at a rapid rate. The argument that 'oh it's just so hard to attack, the rivers, the cities, they're all so impenetrable!' doesn't look very convincing when Ukraine is able to take cities and cross rivers all over the map in less than 24 hours. Maybe Russia just wasn't trying as hard as Ukraine? It obviously isn't technologically or physically impossible since if Ukraine can do it so could anybody else who wanted to. Remember, Ukraine is one of the poorest and most backwards countries on Earth. They're now upstaging Russia and conducting a better offensive than Russia has in months. It's like a human being losing to a chimpanzee in a quiz game. Nevermind the actual consequences of the counteroffensive, which will probably peter out without actually changing anything in the long run, it's just humiliating to see the Russian forces upstaged like this. Either Russia has to accept taking higher losses or deploy more weapons and troops to the theater or both. The current situation is unacceptable.
