Episode 5 was intolerably bad. There was nothing from the books left -- Caemlyn was skipped, the Eye of the World was skipped, and people found themselves suddenly in Tar Valon, a place they never actually went to in the books. Then in Tar Valon they had adventures that never actually happened, an entire hour long of filler, finishing things off with Lan and Moiraine acting completely out-of-character by screaming and crying over some nobody they had barely met before dying. You can only butcher a series so far before it becomes unrecognizable. This is an affront to the true Wheel of Time. All it does is give the real series a bad name. It's irredeemable. All they had to do was follow the books. Game of Thrones mostly followed the books. Why couldn't they have done the same? What was stopping them? This could have been the greatest series ever made, and instead it's this flaming garbage.
Meanwhile, Splendid Dance Performance of the Spirit is intolerably bad and has been replaced by Guren no Yumiya, the first opening theme to Shingeki no Kyojin. I'm using the 1:30 version from the tv opening because it's hard to find the full version and besides I'm used to the tv length version anyway. This is another famous song my hall of fame has been remiss in neglecting, but it's fine since I got to it before all was said and done. Before this project is over all good music will be in my music hall of fame, and all the bad music will not be.
This bizarrely long-titled song is of course another product of Motoi Sakuraba. But there's no harm done, he still has 840 more songs to call upon within my playlist. 10 or 20 deletions won't be missed.
In the long run, I hope to replace all my 1 star songs with upgrades, but that's relying on songs that don't exist yet that I've never heard before. For now I can only replace the absolute worst of the worst.
Accompanying my musical trials is my Lensman re-read. I'm almost done with Galactic Patrol and it's been perfect so far. I also finished my rewatch of Tropical Rouge Precure, except that there are still a few episodes left that haven't aired yet. I'll watch and rewatch them as soon as they appear and then be done for real. My pledge to rewatch all anime labeled 'great' continues to be upheld.
