Through industrious effort I've managed to rate 4800 of my 5500 musical masterpieces. All quiet on the music front, for this batch of 200 songs I didn't feel the need to replace anyone.
That leaves 700 songs to go, all of the longer variety. The columns look like this: 1 star 1072/1100, 2 star 1014/1100, 3 star 950/1100, 4 star 777/1100, 5 star 977/1100. Which means the remaining songs must be distributed in a 4%, 12.3%, 21.4%, 46.1%, 17.6% pattern for everything to work out.
The pattern is even more imbalanced now than it was at 4500, despite my best efforts to load up on 4 star rankers. But it's still salvageable. Nothing has overflowed as of yet, and these later songs tend to be anime and visual novel tunes, better than average, so giving them all 4's isn't unreasonable.
If things overflow they overflow, I can always even them out after everything's received a preliminary rating. But it would be better to get as much right as possible the first time while I'm really concentrating on the quality of each and every song.
I'm almost done with First Lensman. I should finish the series and the music at about the same time.
