Wheel of Time tv:

This isn't a good adaption.  It gets virtually everything wrong about every scene and every character.  Of all things, it invents the ludicrous 'detail' of Perrin having a wife who he accidentally kills in the first episode.  Why?  What on Earth reason is there to insert such a huge deviation from the story?

But this is about as good as western television will ever get.  It's not like there are other, better adaptions of fantasy novels lying around.  Remember that awful 'Seeker' tv show that supposedly adapted the Sword of Truth series?  At least this one has a budget and enough length to tell a reasonably nuanced story.

I'm afraid we'll all have to settle for this and go on watching all the same.  The adaption is wrong on virtually every detail, but at least the main thrust of the story is accurate.  They really did go to Shadar Logoth, they really did leave the Two Rivers after a trolloc attack, Mat really did find a cursed dagger, Egwene really did learn how to channel from Moiraine, etc.  I've already paid for my subscription to Amazon Prime for the right to watch this series so I may as well get my money's worth.

At the same time, this is no substitute for the books.  It's nothing like the books, a mere shadow of the books, a Potemkin village cardboard cut-out of the books.  You lose the entire heart and soul and life and richness of the books.  Anyone watching this series should be someone who has already read the books multiple times and is only looking for a change of pace, by no means should the quality of this incredible story be judged by what you just saw.

Meanwhile, Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges and is now a free man, thank God.  It sure took the jury long enough.  I knew he was innocent from the start so it's nice to see some justice in this world.  There's precious little of it, but I'll take it when it happens.  The truth is he never should have faced trial to begin with, the video evidence was so clear.

Music-wise, 3444/5500 songs have received a rating.  Selection Project continues to mirror Idoly Pride by having Suzune being the heart recipient of the previous winning idol.  I suspected this would be the case but now it's definitive.  How much do they want to rip off poor Idoly before they're satisfied? ^^;
