30th '100 Waifus' Re-read Underway:

Lots of edits were made between now and the 29th readthrough.  Most importantly, entire new pages of material were added to chapter 52.  As such, it was incumbent upon me to review the new material and see if it fit in nicely with the rest of the book by re-reading it all together for a 30th time.  I wanted to add in the Tales of Arise new character names before then, but without a PS5 I can't fulfill that goal.  So I got to work with the situation as it stands.

The result so far is beyond expectations.  I'm halfway through the book, at Chapter 29, and I haven't had to edit a single thing.  Unlike the previous 29 times, maybe this time I won't be re-reading and proofreading, I'll just be re-reading and enjoying the book as is.  If I could do that even once I could finally proclaim '100 Waifus' to be a finished work.

I'd still like to play Tales of Arise someday and insert those characters into the book when the eventuality arrives, but that isn't a substantive change to the book, it's a minor detail.  For all intents and purposes, if I really don't have to edit anything this time through, the book is finally finished.

The new and old stuff I've been reading has all been great.  The new scenes from Chapter 28 are sexy and endearing, Ai's cutting remark in small text is perfect, and the prose is smooth as butter now that all the excess 'justs' were cut.  The book is infinitely better than when I started, so much so that I can find nothing left to improve.  The very fact that I can possibly enjoy reading the same book for the 30th time proves its quality beyond any other praise I can give.

My readthrough is leisurely, I'm in no hurry, there's no deadline.  It's alongside many other projects I'm slowly working through.

I've completed my Bleach blu-ray rewatch.  Aizen is defeated, but the manga and anime doesn't end here.  Only the blu-ray ends here.  From here on the Fullbringer arc can only be watched in its original tv broadcast form, which is probably fine.  The detail of the blu-ray was phenomenal so long as it had a 4:3 aspect ratio, but when it switched to 16:9 the blu-ray version looked worse than the broadcast.  It's not a big deal, and I am thankful that the blu-ray filesize is smaller, but it's still a shame.  Especially considering how brilliant the 4:3 portion looked in blu-ray.  Why couldn't it stay at that quality throughout?  What a dumb problem.  If the older stuff can look great there's no reason why the newer portions couldn't too.

As for One Pace I'm mostly through Thriller Bark, and in Dragon Ball Kai I'm at the start of the Buu arc.  I just skip any scene involving Mr. Satan to make the rewatch rewatchable.

As for my music listening project, I've narrowed it down to 1095 songs left to go.  1095 songs have yet to reach their 100 playthrough proof of quality, but the median playthrough count of those 1095 songs is 94, so they only need 6 more cycles before they're also done.  So long as I don't add any more songs to the pile, I could complete this years-long project within the year.

I watched Black Widow and it sucked.  Mortal Kombat remains the only good release of 2021.  Maybe Shang-Chi will live up to the hype?  Or Dune?  There's always hope I guess.

The translation of 'Silver Ruins, Black Moon' book II is either complete or nearly complete.  It sure took a while but it's definitely worth reading if you haven't yet.  Who knows how many years it will take to translate volumes III and IV. . . like many series, the long wait continues.
