Tales of Luminaria is getting an anime. Boku no Hero Academia is getting another season. Genjitsu Yuusha is getting another season. Magia Record is getting another season. Moonlight Fantasy is getting another season. Slime Tensei is getting a movie. The summer season was unusually good so I'm not surprised to see a lot of these recently ended shows were famous or successful enough to merit additional content.
I think Tales of Luminaria is a Tales game that hasn't even been released yet, so the anime is clearly meant to be an advertisement for it. Most Tales games are great, but a lot of Tales anime don't follow the scripts from the games, so it's really hit and miss. Since I don't even know how good the game is it's even more ambiguous how good the anime will be.
There's finally clarity for Kimetsu no Yaiba. The fall season will be a re-air of Mugen Train split up into seven episodes. Then in December it will start airing the Entertainment District arc which will end sometime before the spring 2022 season begins. This wasn't the best eventuality but it wasn't the worst either. My biggest fear was that they'd pack every ep full of filler to somehow extend a small amount of manga into lots of anime episodes. At least that threat is gone. A plan like this certainly won't improve Kimetsu's #33 ranking though. If it wants to reach higher they'll have to adapt all the way to the ending, something they bizarrely refuse to do despite the movie being the highest selling in Japanese history. This should be the no-brainer of all no-brainers.
Season 5 of Boku no Hero Academia was watchable but it did nothing to improve my opinion of the series. Maybe season 6 will do something. So far the only season I really liked from this show was Season 4.
I think the latest season of Magia Record was a mess. Everything went crazy and nothing made sense. Now they're promising to explain everything in the next season, whenever that might be. I wish they'd just made a simpler story that was self-explanatory to begin with. But oh well, what can you expect from a spinoff not even written by the original author.
Ken Tensei is probably better than all these announcements combined.
