+3 Songs:

I've now re-read The World God Only Knows through to the ending of the Goddess arc, because the anime is too unreliable in its coverage.  I'm also watching the anime, so I couldn't help but notice there were more songs I was missing from my hall of fame.

The tv opening to the 3rd season is fantastic, even though the long form of the song wanders off into a 13 minute bore.  So I included the tv version, 'secrets of the goddess.'  Also two more Kanon songs, this time from her Colors cd.  Kanon 100 and Natsuiro Surprise.  I could have included a lot more but these were the songs I really wanted to listen to 100 times not just 10.  A decent tune and a true hit are different.

I've already listened to these three songs over 50 times so I'm sure they'll hold up as worthy inclusions all the way to the 100 mark eventually.

There are some really good scenes in this manga, mostly involving Shiori, then there's a lot of decent and normal plot progression, and then there's some straight out dumb chapters like Keima randomly going on a side quest to scout out a hole.  I'm not at all fond of the crossdressing romance with Yui, it just seems dumb.  If Yui is straight why is she attracted to Keima when he acts like a girl?  Shouldn't she be attracted to women who are girls even more?  The only good thing that came out of that arc was Shiori's expressions watching it from afar.

There's also way too much violence in this series.  Everyone seems to communicate through violence but in the real world no one understands each other like that -- plus injuries are severe and traumatic life altering issues that may never heal.  Violence isn't a gag, it's painful.

This is why calm girls like Tenri and Shiori are far preferable to the likes of Ayumi, Chihiro, Tsukiyo, etc.  Anyone who hits Keima is immediately disqualified as a human being.

I understand the anime skipping some bad arcs like the giant girl and the ghost granny.  But they really should have covered the original conquests of the shogi girl, the ramen girl, the swimming girl, Yui and Tsukiyo.  The first three because they were nice girls and fun arcs, and the last two because they set up the goddess plot that actually was animated.  The third season makes no sense without animating those two conquests.  This drawback is the main reason TWGOK isn't rated very highly despite having such amazing visuals, voice actors, music, plot, and themes.  Some benevolent billionaire should go back and fund a 'season 2.5' setting this right.  We have all these trillions dedicated to various charities, why isn't any of it donated to useful causes like another season of TWGOK?
