In Another World with 100 Waifus Read and Edited for the 25th time:

I fixed three more errors along the way:  The first was my tendency to call the Research Institute all sorts of names -- the research center, the research facility, even though it had been listed as the Research Institute officially in the very beginning.  Now consistency is maintained and it is always referred to as the research institute.

The second problem was when I changed the names of Youko and Shoukei, I forgot to delete a segment of the story which still insisted children had been named after them.  That's the danger when you go around adding and cutting things without reviewing the entire text to check for consistency.  But now it's safely fixed.

The third problem was a line saying Tifa 'jumped high into the sky' when she was in fact inside a dojo and thus couldn't possibly be in the sky.  I amended the line to 'jumped nearly to the ceiling', which expresses the same thing but this time accurately.

It all sounds minor, but whenever you confuse the reader that breaks immersion and causes cognitive dissonance.  If it happens too often reading is no longer fun.  Ironing out all these details so there's no cause for confusion helps the story flow.

I can't say I'm wholly content with my fictional character hall of fame, but there aren't any good replacements waiting in the rushes either.  (If there were I would have used them already.)  I'll just have to wait for more good stories with good characters to come out and use them as they arrive to plug various holes.  Tales of Arise should help.

But the core of the story is solid.  After all those edits, surely there's nothing left to fix.  This is the 25th proofread after all.  After 25 sessions surely these were the very last errors.  Surely!

Well, I'll check once more for mistakes in need of fixing in a 26th re-read, but that will be some time from now.  It sure would be nice to just once have a clean bill of health.

I enjoyed the beginning of the story most this time around, but it was all excellent.  The fact that I was more engrossed reading this the 25th time than rewatching Railgun T or reading Sufficiently Advanced Magic for the first time says it all.  Railgun T was the best series of last year, I was rewatching it for the first time in lovely blu-ray, but I only made it to episode 18 before I'd finished the 25th re-read of 100 Waifus.  100 Waifus lapped it.  The 25th re-read of 100 Waifus no less.

I feel like every waifu was given an opportunity to shine somewhere in the text, which is an important promise kept with the initial premise of the story.  I wish I could add some more content, though, a few more exciting events and adventures.  Oh well.  If I had that kind of creativity I would have already done it.  Maybe someday I'll have a bolt of inspiration.

I've edited this story 25 times so that new readers can enjoy it for the first time.  I don't want anyone to miss out on the best book ever written.  The fact that I can read it and enjoy it this many times proves the sincerity of my assessment, while all the proofreads get rid of needless deterring distractions.  Combined it's the best argument I can make for people to try it out.
