Shikkaku Mon Anime Green-lit:

Alongside a lot of other anime announcements I didn't care about, Shikkaku Mon is receiving an anime adaption for the very first time by the respectable J.C. Staff studio.  This is a series that's already represented in my fictional character hall of fame and could easily reach my top anime rankings if they adapt it correctly.

This is a super popular series so I don't know why it took so long to get an anime, but all's well that ends well.  The point is there will now be an anime and it's going to rock.

Goblin Slayer also received a second season announcement which is welcome.  I kinda wish they had done Goblin Slayer Year 1 instead but this is fine.  (Also Danmachi got a 4th season announcement)

I'm nearly done with my 25th re-read of '100 Waifus.'  I found two more things requiring editing as I went along.  The first issue was rewriting a segment where Aerith implied the 'Ancient' race was named that way because they had long lifespans.  There's no indication or evidence for that in the source work, they were 'Ancients' because they lived long ago, not because they lived long.  Plus the 'Ancient' race is what Shinra Company called them, they thought of themselves as the 'Cetra,' so Aerith shouldn't even be using that term.

The line now reads thus:

"Ara, but I have miraculous healing powers.  I'd cleanse our genes of any defects and our descendants would be set for all time.  And due to being half-Cetra, my spirit could still take care of them even after death."  Aerith countered.

The second issue is really tricky.  Cute says something really profound and important, but Christopher ignores it and brings up a completely unrelated topic as the very next line.  This makes little sense.  But at the same time, I don't want to beat the reader over the head with, "this is profound and important!  Take notes!  Underline this!  It will be on the quiz!"  I want people to come to their own conclusions how important they think the words are, so making a big deal about what she said is also the wrong tack.  This issue has plagued me throughout the 25 read-throughs which is why I never found a satisfying solution and just left things as-is.  But this time around I tried a compromise that might address both concerns.  I added one extra word to the sentence:

"I want to impregnate my wives naturally but it would still be nice to be able to sex select the children that come from them."  I continued blithely.

By recognizing that Christopher is acting kinda dense via the word 'blithely,' I hint that there's something amiss in his priorities.  At the same time, I don't demand everyone drop down on their knees and start worshiping Cute either.  It's okay to 'continue' as well.  Hopefully this constitutes an improvement.

It does make you think though -- how much thought and effort goes into every single word of this book, that I can write entire paragraphs about the relative wisdom of 'blithely' or not.  That's how much thought and effort I've put into every word in the book.  This is seriously my all.

I rewatched the Haifuri movie and the latest Precure movie, two more things I rated as great and thus were required to have a rewatch sooner or later.  They were both good but nothing special.  Not like the Star Twinkle movie which was absolutely amazing.  I wish the Shirobako movie would come out already.  I suspect it would be much better than both of these.
