SAOAGGO 7 Read:

This was another excellent entry to an excellent series, the Gun Gale spinoff of SAO.  The book felt rather short, but it was action packed and never tedious like a certain long book I was recently reading.  You would think it wouldn't matter whether you win or lose at a first person shooter game, even if it is in virtual reality and thus feels more realistic.  So why is this series so darn fun?

I think getting to viciously chop people to pieces with no moral constraints and no worries about consequences is great fun, even if the stakes are low.  Violence as sport is really appealing, considering gladiators did it even when the consequences were real.  But the author also always adds something extra to the equation -- in this case a marriage proposal hinging on who wins the fight.

Only the next volume will tell us how that pans out, but in any case it's fun and exciting, VR or no.

I'm not out of good books to read, though.  Next comes the fully translated Index Genesis Testament volume 3.

With Atlas Shrugged not being as good as I remembered it being, I changed my great books hall of fame rankings around, putting Ayn Rand in her place.  I went ahead and changed everyone else's ranking around in the fiction department too since I was messing with it already.  For anyone interested I'll leave a link: http://diamed-the-road-less-traveled.blogspot.com/2013/07/good-books.html

Coming up is Wonder Woman 1984 on a convenient HBO Max streaming release, and then Choyoyu's latest manga volume courtesy of Amazon.  Combined with the everpresent Shadowlands December is in good hands.

I'll be sad to see all my favorite series ending this winter, but at the same time I'll be happy to see all their endings.  I wonder if Love Live! Nijigasaki will get a 2nd season?  Given that the next series is titled Superstar and about a totally different cast maybe it won't?  At least new Non Non Biyori is only 24 days away.
