This was the first good volume of Outbreak Company in forever. I think the last time I enjoyed this series was when Myusel was mind controlled into stabbing Shinichi. How long ago was that? Oh well. All's well that ends well.
I didn't really get where this adventure was going until the end, which features a big reveal -- the hyperspace tunnel transports you to the far future, not to any other world. Everything we see around us in Outbreak Company is stuff humans built themselves with the power of technology, only to destroy themselves with it so long ago that now even the remnants don't remember. Since I also think this world is headed for destruction, I can truly sympathize with this plot twist. I'm glad to see other authors are on the same wavelength as me.
It doesn't change the fact that Myusel is the cutest half-elf ever. Whether she evolved or was designed is irrelevant, she's still a half-elf. Shinichi seems to slowly be settling on her as his lover, which is what I've been demanding all this time. Basically every decision by the author this time around was right. Now I'm excited to see how things develop from here and confident they will go in the right direction. Volume 16 comes out in January, so I can't wait.
In WoW I've completed all the Ubertools, mastering every Battle for Azeroth profession in a definable way that says, 'look, I did it!' Boy that was a lot of work -- and very little reward! But oh well. The feeling of achievement just from doing it is enough, the ubertools don't actually need to have any use in-game. I'm so glad I managed this before Shadowlands came out, ie, still in time before Battle for Azeroth 'ends.'
The pre-patch has been very fun and very rewarding. I hope other people have also made use of this material, because it's all going away in a week, never to be playable again. It's also been a rather swift leveling process for all my new allied race characters, the Chromie Time mechanic they introduced is also great. This is before Shadowlands even officially begins and the game is already so improved.
It looks like Bolt is going to be written by Kishimoto from here on, so I guess I have to admit the manga is now canon -- that doesn't mean the anime is though. The anime has barely any relation to the manga. I refuse to call all those crappy filler eps 'great' or part of 'Naruto.'
