One of the great mysteries of the Bleach series was why Shinji kept losing fight after fight while never going bankai, which would presumably improve his chances of victory. Now, at last, in this light novel series, we learn the answer -- and Shinji actually goes bankai. Shinji's bankai is a wide area attack which involves friends and foes equally, and always up until now he's been fighting as part of a group. Thank you for closing that plot hole! It's been nagging me all this time.
The rest of the book wasn't very interesting, a bunch of inconclusive fights where everyone just postured meaninglessly for a while. But at least we learned one thing. Now we just need to know why Love Aikawa never used his bankai and all the mysteries left at the end of the manga will be cleared up.
Meanwhile, in Imouto Sae Ireba Ii, we have a rather prosaic continuation. Things do certainly happen, like Nayuta and Miyako moving in together. But all in all it felt like a natural continuation of previous events with no real need to be described. On the bright side the volume was too short to actually get dull.
So, neither book really stood out, but they were important bridges towards the future. I'll be looking forward to their next entries.
A sub group, [Almighty], has been putting in good work to fansub Railgun T blu-ray. They're up to episode 18 now. Only 7 eps to go, then I can start to rewatch the series. (For now I'm still enjoying Inuyasha in blu-ray for the first time.)
A bunch of my provisional music hall of fame songs reached the finish line of 100 song playthroughs today. The rest are at a median of 75 plays. It looks like I'll finish the project up right around the start of 2022. Still a long ways away, but it's nice to see progress.
WoW Shadowland's pre-patch content is live. Only two weeks from the actual expansion now.
The new Outbreak Company novel is only 4 days from now.
