Visual Novel Hall of Fame updated:

I've played a lot more good visual novels deserving of recognition recently so I decided to double my rankings from top 10 to top 20.  Because all these visual novels are definitely worth reading:

Ranking the top twenty visual novel franchises I've actually played through, in order of the value added over and above what you would gain from just watching their respective anime series, it would look like this:

1.   Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete
2.   Majikoi + Majikoi S + Majikoi A
3.   Da Capo + Da Capo II + Da Capo III R X-rated + Suika + Dal Segno
4.   Summer Pockets
5.   Rewrite
6.   Planetarian
7.   Grisaia no Kajitsu + Idol Mahou Shoujo Chiru Chiru Michiru + Short Stories
8.   Clannad + Tomoyo After Story + Clannad Side Stories
9.   Umineko no Naku koro ni Chiru
10.  Osananajimi wa Daitouryou + Osananajimi wa Daitouryou Fandisc
11.  Senren * Banka
12.  Hoshizora no Memoria
13.  Imouto Paradise 1-3
14.  Sanoba Witch
15.  Hatsukoi 1/1
16.  Koichoco
17.  Harmonia
18.  Shuffle + Tick! Tack! + Really? Really!
19.  Dracu Riot
20.  Trinoline

Remember, this is value added, so Koichoco and Shuffle ranking lowly doesn't reflect their innate worth, only their relatively lower value when you take into account they already have perfectly good anime adaptions.

If they keep translating more great visual novels, who knows, maybe I'll expand it to a top 25.  So long as it's great keep 'em coming.

I also edited my tv hall of fame to include the as-yet unaired Wheel of Time series on amazon prime and Saved by the Bell.  I decided series with characters I actually cared about were better than series without.  Adding Wheel of Time before it even airs is a bit iffy, but come on, we all know it's going to be amazing.  With the amount of budget being poured into it how could it not be?
