Matemashita! The blu-ray came out in Japan last November, but now America finally gets a subtitled version. Of course, the original netflix version has been available for the past year, but that little extra graphical fidelity is important, and now the movie isn't stupidly broken into three pieces when it's meant to be one fluid film.
The entire movie was a testament to why Mumei (Hozumi) is one of my precious 100 Waifus. Graceful either in battle or while dancing with twintails in a completely peaceful setting. Totally in love and totally embarrassed about it like the bashful maiden she is. Ready to do anything for her friends and ready to rain judgment down upon her enemies. Capable of crying and killing in the same day. And the insane beauty of face and form. . .how could anyone ever get enough of her?
I love Mumei so much! And by extension Kabaneri too! If you haven't watched this movie yet now's the time.
I of course rewatched the movie the moment the blu-ray availability gave me the chance. One more series watched and rewatched in full. Honestly the ending of this movie works fine, they don't even need to say anything more. Hozumi and Ikoma have kissed, and that's all we need to know. Supposedly, though, they do intend to continue this series at some point, so I'll wait patiently for that moment.
