Masako Katsuki is the 196th entrant to my anime voices hall of fame. She has a long and distinguished career tracing back to the start of anime. Gunbuster, Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, Dragon Ball, etc. But the two roles that really stand out are Smoothie from One Piece and Tsunade, the 5th Hokage, from Naruto.
In both cases she has a powerful, deep, aggressive voice that makes for an intimidating woman. This also shows up in her role as the whip wielding teacher in Majikoi. The unique aura of her voice leaves such a strong impression that its worthy of entry into the hall of fame.
One of the things holding Masako back is she seems to always play side characters in great anime, while only playing main characters in bad anime. Perhaps she isn't suited for the role of main character, or perhaps she just has bad luck. Either way, her career finally earned her a spot in my rankings so in the long run no harm done.
