A Tale of Two Re-Reads:

I'm about halfway through my 12th re-read of 'In Another World With 100 Waifus.'  While reading I'm correcting mistakes along the way, Luxus was re-spelled Laxus, the 'if' at the beginning of a sentence was properly capitalized to 'If,' etc.

With this many edits still required, it's a good thing I decided to read the book for a 12th time.  The best book ever shouldn't have embarrassing and pointless distracting issues like these that spoil the reading experience, it should be as technically high quality as it is content-wise.

But what strikes me most is the fact that I can happily go and read this book for a 12th time in less than seven months, while I struggled to re-read the Berserk manga after ten to twenty years since my last time through.  I finally finished re-reading Berserk, and I do have a better grasp of how the story flows and who the minor characters are, but I can't say it was a good use of time.  Other than the lost children arc which was really good, it felt more like a chore, good art notwithstanding.

I'm re-reading my own book for the 12th time in less than a year and it doesn't feel like a chore at all.  By this measure, 7 months x 12 rereads versus 15 years x 1 reread, my book is 309 times as good as the Berserk manga.

And Berserk is one of the best manga out there.  309 times as good as that is uncharted territory.  Plus this is a book, with no pictures, competing with the best manga artwork ever.  309 times as good with only words to work with.  It's mind-boggling.  This is why I can confidently say 'In Another World With 100 Waifus' is the greatest book ever written.

Meanwhile, Dimension W volume 15 is now out free at mangakakalot.  I got to read it two days earlier in exchange for $7.  Pretty silly of me, but if it helps them commercialize the translation of volume 16 it's worth it.  I want to see the ending to this story, so I want the translation to run a profit.

Kanata no Astra's manga is already finished and it looks like the anime is going to fully adapt it.  A glowing success story in a world where anime (and manga) almost never reach their proper conclusion.  It's no wonder this is one of the few new great anime of 2019.  Once October comes around I'll have a better grasp of where both this series and Kimetsu no Yaiba should really rank.  Obviously much higher than their current standings, but there's still no telling how much higher.

By focusing solely on songs in my music hall of fame with 60+ playthroughs, I've finally managed to graduate some new songs into my 'over 100 plays' finish line.  Progress!  But I'll need to do that for at least 90 songs to end up better off than where I started this year.

Rewatching my blu-ray Fairy Tail series on my new 4k tv is positively gorgeous.  The rich colors, the bright lights and the dark blacks, the engrossing screen size, everything is a step up from the 1080p tv I had before.  If the extra pixels helped, great, but if it was simply other technology that piggy-backed on the 4k standard that's fine too.  $300 well spent.  The additional resolution makes it all the more vital to collect blu-ray archived versions of all my favorite shows.  480p on a 4k tv still doesn't look any good, I need more detailed data than that.

I can't believe there's still no sub out for the Youjo Senki movie.  I had thought this was a much more popular series than this.  Fansub groups should be tripping over each other to get at this movie. . .

One Pace released Post-War Ep 2, continuing its crusade to shrink the series faster than the One Piece animators can grow it.  Due to One Pace's heroic efforts, I've had a hard time keeping my great anime collection over 8,600, much less getting back to 9,000.  But I still want them to keep at it, One Piece is unwatchable without their help.

The ESPN website no longer allows people to watch reruns of football games for free, which major league sucks, but nevertheless, the beginning of the football season is cause for rejoicing.  Today marks the first day of the first week of college football with lots of exciting matches.

Football should tide us over until Final Fantasy 8 Remastered comes out, just six days from now.  The slow August summer days are behind us and a fast and fun Fall awaits.
