Gundam: The Origin is Really Good:

I've tried to like Gundam for a long time now, but the series inevitably betrays me and tires me out.  Not so with Gundam: The Origin.  I marathoned the entire series from start to finish in one session.  It was that gripping from start to finish.  This is the one Gundam series that can stand the test of time.  Getting to know such complicated and interesting characters as the Zabi family and Char Aznable was a real treat.  Plus the budget for this series was enormous, and it came out only a few years ago, so everything looks fantastic.

If you're going to watch any Gundam at all, watch Gundam: The Origin.  It will give you an overly inflated view of the series as a whole, but it's totally worth it to get an insight into why this franchise is considered a classic.

I was so enthused by Char's coolness that I then watched Char's Counterattack next, and, go figure, it was back to being the same stupid boring silly Gundam again.  There's Gundam: The Origin, Gundam 00, Gundam Seed, and then all the other Gundams.  The quality drops like a rock.  But that's still a lot of high quality Gundam worth viewing.

Meanwhile I decided Ultimate Secrets version 2 was a remix and nixed it from my music hall of fame according to the rules.  That brings my collection down to 5396 songs.

The summer anime season already has 21 watchable series, with 4 more still to start.  I'm pretty sure 25 watchable series in a single season is a new record.  I knew 2019 was the best year ever.
