I finally finished Midori Makabe's route, the last of the five girls. As expected it was the worst route, which is why I delayed it as long as possible. The girl dumps me, despite my having done nothing wrong, because she wants to concentrate on her studies. Only after I become the student council vice president, raise my grades to getting a Tokyo University college entrance, etc, etc, does she grudgingly take me back. After I grovel and beg for a second chance. Sigh.
In reality any guy who's dumped by a girl should never get back with her again. She's already proven her untrustworthiness. Just because the immediate circumstance that separated you is gone, some similar event is bound to pop up and then she'll choose to dump you again, just like before. If she can ever rationalize abandoning and betraying you under any circumstance, she'll do so for every circumstance. It's not a question of whether studies are important or not, it's simply a question of whether you are important or not. If you aren't, you'll lose to everything. If you are, you won't lose to anything. That's the only question in a relationship, and she already answered that question the wrong way.
Ordinarily I could brag that I've now defeated the entire game, but no such luck. There's also an append disk with after stories that I should also be playing. However, since the append disk isn't fully translated, maybe I can put the game aside in favor of Tsui Yuri or Sabbat of the Witch for now. Once the append disk is complete, then I can go back and complete the append disk.
Runa was extremely attractive, the first girl I chose in this game. That hasn't changed. Kyou, my second favorite choice, was also a good route. Yukino may have been a terrible girl but she gave me the inspiration for a great permapost of mine, so I have no complaints there. Overall it's a worthwhile game. I just suspect that Sabbat is going to be much better.
The weirdest thing about Hatsukoi 1/1 is how much musical talent was marshaled together for the project, and yet how terrible the music ended up being. Famous singers like KOTOKO and Mami Kawada, and many famous composers like Ryo Mizutsuki and Maiko Iuchi all worked on this project. But I had to mute the music and just play my itunes hall of fame collection on the background instead because it was so bad. Oh well, I guess even monkeys fall from trees.
I also bought the two new light novels that came out today on Amazon -- Parchment and Wolf volume 3 and No Game No Life volume 7. With Hatsukoi 1/1 temporarily out of the way I can concentrate on these two beauties for now.
Why did everyone decide to release everything in such a short timeframe? This is tough to keep up with, even for me.
On the bright side, anything that distracts me from these looming midterms is probably a good thing. I'm sick to my stomach imagining the consequences of a Democratic victory. The fate of the entire nation may be determined in just one week, but having already voted, all I can do now is distract myself with books and manga. I wish it were just over already. *sigh*
