Blacks aren't my favorite people, but I should give credit where it's due. Lando (as represented in the canon The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), has a lot going for him. I like his suave speaking style and fashion. I like his conflicted personality that values the business he built up and the people who work under him, but also values friendship and justice. He's good looking. And ultimately he succeeds in blowing up a Death Star, which proves his piloting skills and martial courage. He seems to have every attribute I'm looking for in a man in spades. I like that he plays game theory, and when people defect against him, he defects against them -- all the way to enlisting in the Rebellion military and winning the entire war against them. That's called 'grim trigger' defection, an unrelenting campaign to utterly annihilate people who cross you, and it's the game theory I ascribe to. Lando's theme song for my wonderful playlist is 'The Battle of Endor III.'
Meanwhile, a new Heaven Burns Red event came out. I spent $140 recruiting everyone I wanted -- and I got everyone I wanted. The ever-elusive Nanami -- the new rococo Sumomo -- the new diva Ruka -- base Isuzu limit break 4, samurai Inori up to limit break 3.5 -- thundercat Byakko up to 2.5 -- Idol Erika up to level 2 -- a new Christmas themed Yayoi -- a new fireworks Miya -- gothic Ruka level 2 -- wedding dress Ichiko level 1 -- tuxedo Tama level 2.5 -- perhaps others I've forgotten. For $140 I count this a steal. In addition, base Nanami and rococo Sumomo are already up to limit break 1. So I can deploy them in combat immediately and they'll do pretty well.
For the first time ever, I scored over 1 million points in the score challenge, as usual with my critical penetration squad. I got the black trophy, for what good it does me, as a reward. 1 million is the top score the game offers any rewards for, so I've at least maxed out one portion of the game.
I tried my luck against Skullfeather and lost about 5 times in a row. I can break his 4 dp bars, but then I die trying to reduce his hp bar to 0. The hp bar was at about 75% when I ran out of exclusive abilities and his ever-mounting attack power overwhelmed my healing. Obviously I need a debuffer who can erase Skullfeather's attack buffs, so that the cancer's damage doesn't go exponential on me. Unfortunately phantom thief Jamie is already occupied debuffing the boss' defense, so I need a second debuffer to handle the offense. I suspect the answer is snow white Yuki, but snow white Yuki is limit break 0 -- I would need her to be level 4, or at least level 1, to stand any chance against the strongest boss in the game.
I also feel like idol Erika and diva Ruka might be the answer (diva Ruka has an amazing ability that says you can keep using exclusive abilities even if your use count is at 0 so long as her song is still playing). But diva Ruka is limit break 0, I just got her yesterday, so. . . It appears the journey to defeat Skullfeather might be as long and hard as Apophis. . .
On the bright side, Chapter 5 Part 2 has been announced as incoming, which means I'll soon get some more powerups, like new boosters, that I can immediately apply to my Skullfeather fight. Maybe that will be enough to make the difference. And even if I can't beat Skullfeather, I can enjoy the continuation of the main plot.
For now we have Sumomo's backstory, which I'm sure is going to be incredible. After all, Sumomo is one of the coolest and strongest girls in the game. I just need to set aside enough time to actually play it. I wasted all yesterday trying in vain to defeat Skullfeather. . .
