Akai Hitomi read:

So it turns out the big plot twist in Akai Hitomi is that Shinku losing her memories didn't actually happen, it's just what Yuuma used as a plot device in his new book.  So it was a fictional story within the fictional story.  In truth there was never any problem in the hero and heroines' lives from the beginning of the visual novel to the end.  I feel used.

I also wrote a fictional story within a fictional story, Changeling is a story written by Aiko, a character in my book Choice Givers.  But I gave the readers a headsup -- I said, Aiko is preparing to write a book, here is what it's going to be about.  And then I had a chapter from the book.  And then I had Aiko talking about the book with her friends.  It was all very clear that what happened within Changeling wasn't real to the characters in Choice Givers.  Akai Hitomi didn't extend that courtesy.

Oh well.  Akai Hitomi did do some things right -- Yuuma and Shinku's daughter, Sora, is cute.  Everything you would want in a daughter.  Shinku is beautiful and wears an idol outfit and a wedding dress, which both look amazing on her.  Shinku was a supportive and loving wife and mother which reaffirms my love for her as a wonderful fictional character.  I admit I was scared witless when the shadow beast approached Sora from the dark.

Aside from being jerked around emotionally, it was a solid addition to Irotoridori no Sekai.  It helps cement the visual novel in my top 25 rankings.  It's definitely a must read.  It's also pretty short and easy to finish, unlike Phantom Brave Lost Hero.

I also watched the new Kimetsu no Yaiba movie today.  It was spectacular.  The graphics were the best I've seen in any anime, the IMAX theater of course contributing to that.  The plot gave time and room to characterize a lot of people we were unfamiliar with, which I was worried they wouldn't be able to do within the time constraints of a feature film.  Tanjiro was as thoughtful as he was athletic, which makes for a more interesting strength than Goku's.  Overall I'd give it a 10/10.  As I said when I read the manga, this is actually the best ending to a story I've ever seen.  Most endings pale in comparison to a work's beginning, but Kimetsu is better every chapter until the last.
