Romania's shame is our shame:

Romania has fully and totally revoked democracy by arresting the winner of its presidential election for attempting a 'fascist coup' by. . .winning the presidential election fair and square.  His crime was apparently successfully running a campaign and winning the support of the Romanian voters.  The arrest was initiated by an undemocratic, unelected government that has already overstayed its term in office through the magic of a court ruling that somehow says this is okay.

The problem doesn't stop with Romania, however, which finally took off the mask for all the world to see -- elections are only honored if the right party or person wins.  If the wrong party or person wins that party will be banned by a court and the person will be arrested for a made up crime.  Mind you, this is exactly what Biden attempted to do to Trump, but the Supreme Court overruled him.  So America was saved by our court, while in Romania the tyrants were empowered by their court.  That's the only difference between us and them.

But actually there is no difference between us and them, because Romania belongs to NATO and the EU, of which we are a part.  As part of the founding requirements for both NATO and the EU, you are required to be a democracy.  Supposedly we are willing to go to war with Russia and China in order to save democracy from anyone who might mean it harm.  And yet we sit and do nothing.  We do not declare war on Romania for overturning its democracy and arresting the winner of its election rather than installing him in power as the Constitution mandates.  We don't expel them from NATO or the EU.  We don't pass any sanctions on them, even though we've sanctioned Russia and China infinitely for their supposed aggression against 'democracy.'  We don't even censure them in the press.  No public figure or diplomat has gone out and said, 'we oppose Romania ending its democracy and becoming a brutal police state.'

So does Europe, does America, actually support democracy?  Are we really fighting a war with Russia for the sake of defending democracy?  Why is democracy in Ukraine more important to us than democracy in Romania?  Not that there's any democracy in Ukraine either.  They too have suspended elections and arrested their political rivals.  What are American values?  What are European values?  They keep citing them as a reason to literally bombard Russia with missiles, an act of war by any possible definition, which should have instantly begun World War III and the annihilation of the entire world.  If we care so much about democracy we're willing to bombard Russia with missiles, why have we gone completely silent, completely uninterested, when Romania arrests the winner of its presidential election?  It's as though we're selectively outraged only when Russia or China does something we say is undemocratic.  It's as though we don't actually care about any of our values at all, but just want to hurt Russia and China and are looking for any lame excuse we can come across.

I'm like Kant -- you can form any moral system you want, but it must be consistently applied in all cases to everyone.  That's all I ask of anybody.  The moment you start hypocritically punishing some people while giving others waivers, I know you're full of shit and never cared about morality from the beginning.  Obviously you're just a self-centered liar trying to convince others to serve you with some 'morality' camouflage while never intending to sacrifice anything of your own to this so-called morality.  This should not be a personal rule of logic, of discernment, that only I follow.  Anyone who doesn't follow this rule is doomed to be a sucker for their entire lives, sacrificing everything to various other people's fake moral ideals which are thrown out randomly like fishing bait.

It should be obvious to anyone why we cannot abide hypocrites in power.  They are giving away our money, our reputation, our honor, our souls, our ability to take pride in ourselves, and eventually our lives (yes, they can draft us into the military and make us serve their clearly-not-moral agendas because they are not abiding by said morality universally).  I shouldn't be the only one in the world incensed that we are bombing Russia on false pretenses while looking the other way when nation after nation we tout as heroic champions of our ideals suspend elections and arrest their political opponents.

You don't have to support Russia to demand that your politicians actually believe in their rhetoric and ought to respect and defend democracy in all nations, especially the ones we are allied with and obligated to die for.  Yes, all Americans are obligated to die for the defense of Romania.  A country that has decided to become an evil dictatorship, and yet we must still serve them.  Surely everyone, not just me, finds this offensive?

But it turns out no, only I find this offensive.  The most brazen violation of democracy in history by a NATO or EU country doesn't matter to anyone in NATO or the EU but me.  Not even Romanians care that their right to vote has been stripped from them.  They haven't risen up in revolt at this egregious crime done against them.  They just sit and chew their cud like the ignoble cowards they've proven themselves to be.

All I can say is 'not in my name.'  It wasn't me who became a hypocrite today.  It was everyone else in America and Europe, but not me.
