Kimi ni Todoke S3 green-lit:

Thank to the deep pockets of Netflix, we're getting a new season of Kimi ni Todoke after 13 years.  I never thought it would happen, but it was on my anime wishlist, so I hoped it would happen.  Now that my wish has been granted I replaced the wish with a desire for a Cyanotype Daydream anime adaption.  Though the visual novel of Cyanotype is already perfect who could turn down seeing Yonagi move?  Or William Shakespeare poach a deer?

Even though we're getting a new season of Kimi ni Todoke, it won't be nearly enough to reach the ending of the series, much less cover the Soulmate spinoff, so I still have a 'less than 10%' probability that such a complete anime will ever occur.  It's a nice dollop to the fans but not an actual solution to the problem.

This does help populate the 2024 anime schedule which I was complaining was looking as thin as gruel though.  It's good news.

One thing this will do is kick up Kimi ni Todoke in my great anime rankings which otherwise would have been in danger of being kicked out of the top 200 entirely.  The first two seasons really weren't enough, it appears Netflix agrees with that assessment.

Meanwhile, I read volume 17 of Ryuuou no Oshigoto!.  It was an excellent book contrasting the human joy of playing shogi with incomplete knowledge of the best move vs. the hopeless despair of playing shogi once a computer has cracked the code and achieved complete knowledge of the game.  There were also good scenes involving both Ai's as well as Yaichi, the only characters I care about.

The Mountain West conference beat a lot of 'Power 5' conference teams on Saturday.  This proves they would be a good home for Oregon State and Washington State, the last two Pac-12 teams.  They'd probably only be middle-of-the-pack competitive in the Mountain West, which is right where you want to be conference-wise.

The Pac-12 as a whole, though, performed magnificently on Saturday.  It's ironic that they look like the strongest conference right now while on death row.  Their win-loss record against out of conference opponents is 12-0 so far.  The entire conference is unbeaten.
