Map Theme and Main Theme:

Nobuo Uematsu's career didn't actually end with Final Fantasy 10, it just feels that way.  Two songs from his later works are hauntingly beautiful, to the point that they could no longer be ignored and had to be promoted to 5-star -- Map Theme from Terra Battle 2 and Main Theme from Lost Odyssey.  One is instrumental and the other is vocal, but they're equally trademark Uematsu.

To make room I demoted 'Kanon 100' and 'Love Kanon,' both songs with iffy direction that didn't feel like true anime music, but more like a cheap ripoff.

Anime music still maintains a slight lead over game music despite these changes, but a better metric is vocal music versus instrumental.  Usually vocal music is more moving and memorable than instrumental, but instrumental music is easier to make and less grating on the ears when something goes wrong.  This means most of my music hall of fame is instrumental, but at the very top, at the 5-star tier, the majority is vocal.  Vocal music that navigated all the possible things that could go wrong and reached the pinnacle of achievement.  Out of the 2.7 days of music playtime in the 5-star tier, 1.5 of those days are vocal.

Surely with this the construction of my 5-star tier is complete.  There shouldn't be a single song in the 4-star tier which is secretly better than a single song in my 5-star tier.  I've checked them all multiple times.  There shouldn't be anything left I'm unaware of!

I'm happy for Australia winning 2-0 in front of their home crowd and moving on to the quarterfinals in the Women's World Cup.  At this point the only two teams I have left to cheer for are Japan and Australia.

Cyanotype Daydream is quite good, at least when it comes to the William Shakespeare route.  Though it's dispiriting to know that the only way to get a girl is to be as popular and masterful as the Bard, at least this romance does feel genuine and the crushing difficulties of the ancient world create a really interesting and different set of problems to solve than modern stories are used to.  I'll have to keep playing to find out if the term 'kamige' is merited but so far so good.
