Lapis > Tsukasa:

I can't stop thinking about how great Lapis from Fire Emblem Engage is.  She's beautiful, strong, skilled, resourceful, bright and dutiful.  She's everything you'd want in a woman, the complete opposite of demanding, she lives as meager a life as humanly possible, while finding ways to help others for free just because she wants to be of use.  It's such a great attitude, and alongside that red armor and pink hair she's just a lethal weapon.  It's so cute when she's embarrassed over her 'common sense' not being everybody else's common sense.  She's also cute whenever she's happy to have helped someone, or bragging about her home town's potatoes; she's a regular saint.

It doesn't matter that she's a minor character in the game, in my heart she's a major character who takes up plenty of my thoughts and feelings.  She deserves an entry into my fictional character hall of fame.

With that settled, the next question was who should Lapis replace?  For a while I thought it would be Surprise from Xanth, but I decided to deliberate until I reread Up in a Heavel, the Xanth novel featuring her as the main heroine.  Now that I have reread the book I don't want to replace Surprise.  She did a great job as a lover, sacrificing everything she had to offer on a moment's notice for her love.  Her spirited refusal to go along with the flow and bow to authorities let her retrieve happiness from a situation anyone else would've despaired over.  Her over the top immediate seduction of a boy she'd only met seconds ago makes little sense until you realize prophecy is real in Xanth and Umlaut was prophesied to be her ideal man, a prophecy she knew about, so gunning for him immediately makes a lot of sense.  It actually shows she has a good head on her shoulders, to do what it takes to get what she wants.  Plus, obviously, I just really like the sound of her name.  It's so cute and original.

So with Surprise secure, who should go?  I looked over the entire list of 1000 candidates and decided out of all of them Tsukasa from Lucky Star was the weakest.  The biggest problem with Tsukasa is she shares a name with another entry in my hall of fame, Tsukasa the boy from Choyoyu.  Whenever possible I'd like to avoid doubled up names.  There are other issues, though.  Tsukasa is semi-retarded, only barely getting through life and getting into a lot of mishaps along the way.  She isn't exactly a role model people should aspire to become.  She makes up for that with her good looks and consideration for others, but stupidity and clumsiness really weighs her down.  (And her good looks are nothing compared to Lapis, so even that doesn't do her any good).  Plus Lucky Star itself is not such a great series that it deserves two representatives.  Kagami, who has a unique name, is enough to represent that show's worth.
