But for basic summary of the changes I took into account all the new information I'd received since the previous year I did these rankings. Now that I've rewatched KonoSuba and DanMachi I gave them a much higher and fairer ranking, 131 and 142. Now that Spice and Wolf has a new season announcement it went up to 117. Now that Prince of Tennis has a new season planned it moved up to 110. Now that Edens Zero has a new season announced it moved up to 42. Because of the high quality of the Princess Principal movies it's been moved up to 40. Shadows House has jumped up to 41 due to its coming 2nd season.
I finished my rewatch of all of Dragon Ball so I can give it a newly precise ranking of 16th. Kimetsu no Yaiba still outranks it at 9th, but a bit lower than the 6th I squished it into haphazardly. Dragon Ball Super gets genuinely good once the tournament of power starts at episode 97. The rest is kind of meh, though I guess it's necessary to set the scene. But that's still 34 good episodes of Super plus the good Broly movie so it's hard to keep Dragon Ball down.
Sword Art Online moves up to 3rd place on the assumption that all of Progressive and all of the mainline story will eventually be animated, which I think is a fair guess.
I dropped Kanon down to 30th because it's so much shorter than everybody it's competing with, and length matters. Da Capo, at 29th, is over four times as long!
Cue! moved up to 141 based on the quality of the eps I've seen so far multiplied by the announced episodes that are left.
Shikkakumon, as only a 12 episode incomplete series, moved up a bit to 172.
Some series dropped a good deal like Kanojo mo Kanojo to 146 and Miyuki to 174. Azumanga Daioh is in danger of dropping out entirely at 196. The series that still have 0 episodes to their count -- the yet to air Eminence in Shadow, Ken Tensei and Bastard!! will of course surpass Azumanga once they've actually aired, which will put it at 199. . .
Virtually everyone has jostled up or down 10 slots due to everyone else's motions. There wasn't a safe section of the order anywhere, up and down the rankings lots of changes are evident, even the top 10 changed.
This is the most up to date and accurate anime rankings possible, until Eminence in Shadow, Ken Tensei and Bastard!! air. At which point I'll have to change everything again. But that might not be until 2023, so I can at least relax for a good while.
Sadly March Madness hasn't started yet so I'll have to find something else to do for a week with Dragon Ball done.
