SAO Progressive volume 7 available:

It can be downloaded over at nyaa.si.  So far it's been excellent, a lighthearted and romantic adventure for Kirito and Asuna, really showing off why playing SAO is better than real life.  They even had a child together in SAO, Yui, who doesn't lose to any real life child.

This book is only the beginning of an endless array of fun things coming our way one after the other.  On the 20th Trinoline Genesis, the first important visual novel of 2022, comes out.  On the 22nd the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs start.  On the 25th the next volume of the Choyoyu manga comes out.  Then on the 30th there's more NFL Playoffs.  On February 3rd the Olympics begin.  Then there's the Super Bowl.

Delicious Party Precure debuts on February 6th, our first chance to meet a new batch of wonderful beautiful magical girls.

On February 22nd, with the Olympics ending, there's the final volume of Hataraku Maou-sama! to look forward to, closure to a decade long quest.  There's also a new soundtrack, Heaven Burns Red, by the inimitable Jun Maeda.  One could listen to the new music while reading the new book. . .

All the while new episodes of Shikkakumon, Cue!, Pretty Cure, Kimetsu no Yaiba and Shingeki no Kyojin will be coming out.  There will also be plenty of manga chapter releases, including hopefully the final chapters of series such as UQ Holder, Chihayafuru, Break Blade, New Game! or Kitakubu.

It doesn't get any better than this, so enjoy all the events while they last.  If you have some sort of terminal illness, try to at least last through February, you won't regret it.

Unfortunately Kenja no Deshi won't be part of this fun mix.  The old man talking style of the now-loli heroine is distracting and reminds me too much of Hina from Kamisama ni Natta hi.  The budget is so low they have to do all the fights in cg, on top of which cg that looks little better than green mockup wireframes.  And perhaps the worst aspect is the lives they're leading are so aimless and blasé that I see no reason to waste my time watching them waste their time.  Everyone is so shallow and everything they say is equally shallow.  Almost soulless, like the dialogue an AI program would come up with if it were pretending to be human.  Another winter show dropped.  I guess on the plus side Irodorimidori is worthwhile, so that's a show added, but it's a short that only lasts a few minutes a piece, so. . .

P.S.:  And now I've finished reading the book.  It's excellent, nigh perfect.  The only problem is it ends on a cliffhanger, and the translators are lollygagging because the next volume came out in Japan 8 months ago.  What a frustrating wait.
