Index GT5 read:

Touma is such a Don Juan.  He seduced two new girls this book and saved a few more while he was at it.  Apparently a caring heart and passionate speeches can snag just about any girl, if light novels are to be believed.

I'm not sure this really advances the plot but Index doesn't seem interested in ending any time soon, so the next question is was the book fun in and of itself, which yes it was.

Meanwhile, I flipped twelve songs' ratings from 4-star to 5-star, and twelve songs from 5-star to 4-star, finishing off my purge of western music in favor of more anime music.  There still seem to be plenty of 4-star songs that deserve to be 5-star, but I don't know of any more 5-star songs that deserve to be 4-star, so I guess the remainder are just out of luck.  All the specific changes can be found on my Good Music permapost.

It's tough to be 5-star.  Jun Maeda's 'Brave Song,' the ending theme to Angel Beats!, just barely got in during this flipping maneuver.  If classics like that have their backs to the wall, imagine how hard it is for normal people.

The start of 2022 seems to be about finishing up projects that began in 2021.  I made progress in my One Piece rewatch as well, getting to the Zou arc.

The Broken Blade manga is ending soon, without resolving its main plot threads.  That's a disappointment, but compared to the endless hiatus it was in before this I suppose it was the best option.  At least this way we get an ending to the current arc.  Like usual, another creator lets their audience down by not finishing what they started.

Of all things, Urusei Yatsura is getting a new anime instead of Mao.  Why would you remake an old Rumiko Takahashi manga when you've never animated at all her newest one?  What is Japan thinking?  Well, it's Rumiko Takahashi so I'll watch this anime too.  I seriously doubt they'd make Mao and Yatsura at the same time, they wouldn't want to saturate the market and steal views from each other, so this means Mao isn't getting animated anytime soon.  *sigh*

Sadly college football is almost over, but at least the 48-45 Ohio State vs. Utah Rose Bowl was a worthy finish.  The SEC continues to dominate with two teams from the conference playing each other for the championship.  That's about as unrivalled as it gets.  And soon it will have two more powerhouses with Oklahoma and Texas joining. . .
