Endings in Japan, Endings Here:

My music hall of fame project has reached its ending.  I've taken my 'victory lap.'  I got through a vetting/listening of all 1100 songs without feeling the need to replace any of them, a first, which means the sorting is genuinely correct and finally over.  It's such a relief.  I thought I was done in December, but at least I completed my work before February.  If anyone wants to know the details of the best composers in the world or the top rated songs in history, it can all be found at my Good Music permapost.

In Japan the light novel series Oreshura is ending on its 18th volume.  This is great news, except the American translation is still stuck at volume 7.  The manga Sounan Desu ka? is ending in a couple chapters, which is also great news, except America is at least a volume behind.  Japan is wrapping up all sorts of things we may never see.

There are some things Americans can look forward to, though.  Hataraku Maou-sama!'s final light novel translation is due this February.  The final manga volume of New Game! will be commercially translated this May.  Trinoline Genesis itself is the final installment of this visual novel franchise and it's out now.  UQ Holder's final chapters should be out this February.  Choyoyu's last two manga volumes will likely be translated by the end of the year.  Haganai's final manga volume is due out this March.  The fan translations of Kitakubu and Hanayamata are on pace to fully translate their works this year.  Majikoi A-5 should be finished this year, which would complete the entire Majikoi visual novel franchise.

Kud Wafter, Rewrite Harvest Festa and Summer Pockets Reflection Blue, all key works we've been missing for far too long, should all be out this year based on their current rate of translation progress.  Each of them would be finishing off their respective visual novel franchises.  The final Grisaia Phantom Trigger visual novel comes out this February.  Hoshizora no Memoria ~ Eternal heart ~ is slated for release sometime this year.

Chihayafuru, Broken Blade and Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen are all nearing their manga conclusions.  It would be reasonable if Kanojo mo Kanojo, Fate/Kaleid Liner 3rei, Akatsuki no Yona and Kimi ni Todoke: Soulmate ended this year as well.

Many anime will have endings this year.  Non Non Biyori is releasing its final oav.  Macross Delta Zettai Live is the end of Macross, which has been going since 1982.  Kiniro Mosaic Thank You! is the end of this anime, showing off the girls graduating.  The long awaited ending to Utawarerumono will come out in anime form this year.  Unless they announce some more expansion content, the BanG Dream movies should all be translated this year, providing a happy ending for all bands involved.  Plus Cue!, an original anime slated to have 24 episodes, will surely have a satisfying ending by the end of its run a few months from now.  Shingeki no Kyojin is on the second half of its final season, the ending is within sight.

28 endings to various masterpieces across various mediums.  What did 2021 have?  3?  0?  Let's see -- Uma Musume, if that's truly over.  Selection Project.  Shiroi Suna no Aquatope.  Yuuki Yuuna.  Shirobako.  Unlimited Fafnir (if you count me noticing the series was fully translated that year.)  And Outbreak Company.  So 7 at most.  2022 is at least going to be 4 times as epic as 2021.  Can you tell why I've been so excited for this year all last year?
