For a brief moment earlier this year, I had both watched and rewatched all my great ranked anime, proving beyond any doubt that it was indeed great.
Then more great anime came out. . .
Now I'm busily rewatching said great anime so that I can fulfill my pledge anew. Earlier that meant Index S3, this time it was BanG Dream! S2. Railgun and BanG Dream S3 come out starting in January so I needed to get these two under my belt before they began. I made it in the nick of time.
I liked the first half of Index S3 but the second half felt kinda pointless. I couldn't seriously believe Fiamma on his own was more powerful than the entire rest of the world combined. It felt like an easily solvable problem and whaddyaknow it was easily solved.
In contrast, I liked the start and finish of BanG Dream S2 but the middle was pretty awful. Both series were a tough slog, but both had enough rewarding content to deserve the rank of great. By rewatching them I've proven both their worth and my sincerity.
This year I rewatched in part or in full SAO, Berserk, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Precure, Cross Game, Utawarerumono, Inuyasha, Hayate no Gotoku, Idolm@ster, Shingeki no Kyojin and who knows what else.
If they ever get around to fansubbing the Crest of the Stars blu-ray release I'll definitely be rewatching that next (or the Da Capo blu-ray release), but I suspect overall my rewatching appetite next year will be more restrained.
If I rewatch everything in blu-ray that came out in 2019 that will be success enough.
