Finally, we have a specific release date for the most anticipated anime of the century. Of mankind. Of the galaxy.
Sword Art Online: Alicization is as long as the rest of SAO combined. To do it right, you would need 52 episodes. They've promised to animate the entire story. So the question now is, how long will season 3 be? 26 episodes like the previous two seasons? If so it's going to be a trainwreck. 39 episodes? That's at least doable. Or a glorious full 52 episodes?
I was worried that, in fact, no good anime would air at all this year. That's been cleared up. The #1 anime of all time will be airing this year. 2018 is saved. By the skin of its teeth, with the last of the four seasons, just a couple months before 2019 begins.
That's the good news. The bad news is until 2019 we won't know if this is the adaption SAO deserved, or even if it truly deserves to be ranked the #1 anime of all time. It all depends on how well adapted the books are from here.
One worry is put to rest, a new worry begins.
