Fate/Last Encore and Hugto Precure will soon join the lineup and close out the winter anime season. After that we only have the spring season to look forward to. It's still possible Ryuuou no Oshigoto and Slow Start could be great anime. Maybe even Violet Evergarden if I'm stretching. But mostly things are settled as far as winter goes. In which case it's time to look ahead to the spring season. What awaits us there?
First off, more Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card hen. And this time it will be far beyond anything the manga has written out. It may be a case where the anime ends the story sooner than the manga, but it has notes from the author and fulfills the intended ending -- in which case that's fine. Or it may delve entirely into filler and we wouldn't even know until afterwards when the author informs us it's all wrong. For now I'll assume the former and give A marks to the spring section.
Basilisk 2 is also apparently a 2 cour production, so we'll still have ninja action to rely upon as well.
Of course there will be more Precure, Bolt and One Piece. So that gets us to 5 shows right off the bat.
Joining them will be Steins;Gate 0, Major 2nd and Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory. So that's 8.
SAO Alternative: Gun Gale Online should be good, though it's not by Reki Kawahara. So that's 9.
Going by the plot descriptions of the new series on offer, though, there's very little left of interest. Comic Girls, Juushinki Pandora, Mahou Shoujo Site, Tada-kun wa koi wa Shinai, Caligula Effect, Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru, Piano no Mori, and Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzakashii might work out. The rest aren't even worth trying.
So we're probably looking at 10 shows or so coming this spring. And out of those 10 really only Full Metal Panic! will matter in the long run. The spring season is probably slightly better than the winter season, but it's still not the explosive joy I'm looking for. Where is Index S3? SAO S3? Fairy Tail S3? Where are the real shows I've been promised?
Summer? Fall? 2019???? How long am I supposed to keep waiting for the real fireworks to begin?
Meanwhile, I added Lord of Vermilion by Nobuo Uematsu to my music hall of fame, and subtracted a bunch of Star Wars remixes/bad songs, with a result that my sum total now stands at 4470 songs, 10.1 days in duration. When I add songs that gives me the leeway to subtract an equivalent amount, and I've known all along that my Star Wars music included too many remixes, so this was a great opportunity.
