The ones I picked out as most promising were Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Terra Battle. He's actually composed many more games, but I want them to have the right fantasy (and thus classical music) feel which I think Nobuo is best in, and I want it to have a high enough budget that Nobuo is forced to compose at his very best to meet expectations.
As it turned out, Blue Dragon's ost was no good. It was definitely Uematsu-poi. But the mood was off, and it just felt like all the music wasn't doing what I wanted from it. Like a broken machine that just needs to be returned to sender.
Lost Odyssey was much better. It felt like a typical Final Fantasy game -- which is high praise. Obviously it didn't have any nostalgic value for me, since I've never played the game, but even without that nostalgic bonus it's clear to me that this is great music. I don't feel like there were any standout hits, though.
Terra Battle was the best. It had several amazing songs which will go down in history. Overall the soundtrack felt more emotional and deep than Blue Dragon. I came away with a very good feeling about the game, despite having never played it. Lucia & Lamia's Boss Theme made me thank God I had remembered to check out this music instead of just letting it all pass me by and being content with what I already had.
There are 50% more good Lost Odyssey songs as Terra Battle songs, because Lost Odyssey was a larger scale production. But Terra Battle's songs are more memorable and punch harder, so Terra Battle was the real gem of this fishing expedition. I'll be very much looking forward to the music of Terra Battle 2 when it comes out.
While I was at it, I also downloaded John Denver's song, Country Roads, because I loved it in Ghibli's Whispers of the Heart. The Hall of Fame is supposed to encompass all good music ever made, even country music.
The end result looked like this. These are my proud new music Hall of Fame graduates, all thanks to Granblue Fantasy spurring on my imagination. With this, my hall of fame is 4285 songs, 9.6 days long. I wonder what gems I'll find next?:
