Idol Day:

What could be better than a long neglected series finally getting subbed in blu-ray?

How about two great series coming out at the same time?

And just for kicks, let's have them both be series about idols!

We can call it, Idol Day!

Wake Up, Girls! blu-ray and Locodol blu-ray have both made their fantastic entrance onto the scene.  This on top of Yuuki Yuuna which only came out a couple days ago.  Now if only Love Live! would join them then our blu-ray idol revelry would be complete.

Meanwhile, the first half of the year sales figures have been released for light novels and manga.  One Piece somehow managed to only get 2nd place in terms of manga sales this time, falling short of Nanatsu no Taizai, which is ridiculous because that series sucks.  However, all is right with the world when it comes to light novels.  For the third year running (or is it fourth? fifth?)  Sword Art Online is the top selling light novel series.  When you add up the main line series, the Gun Gale spinoff and the Progressive spinoff it outranks all the other franchises yet again.  I love it when SAO keeps winning, because it drives the haters crazy each time when they see how consistently beloved and brilliant this franchise continues to be.  The second anime season is going to have around 20k average blu-ray sales per volume, which is great, but not nearly as good as the 1st season had.  Even so, when series still make a profit with just 3k per volume average sales, there's no reason not to make a 3rd season of SAO and dive right into Alicization.  There's plenty of light novel content yet to cover.  Alicization is as big as the rest of the series combined.

The light novel sales list is informative in that I didn't even know Baka to Test had a volume 12.5 and Ero Manga Sensei had a volume 4 that haven't been fan translated yet.  Japan is so lucky to have access to these series first.  We have to wait years and years if ever to get our hands on what they've been enjoying for months now.

Fairy Tail and Fairy Tail Zero have been fantastic recently.  As expected of the #2 manga of all time.  Game of Throne's latest episode was also really good.  Even though it isn't canon, as those wildlings were supposed to have died in a freak storm, not due to zombie invasion.  Even so, the result is the same and it looked really amazing so no complaints there.

June is shaping up to be a great month.  With all these blu-ray releases, we'll have plenty to watch until the summer season begins.  Game of Thrones still has two more episodes.  Dragon Ball Kai is coming to its long-awaited finale.  Akatsuki no Yona's water arc in the manga is coming to a dramatic conclusion.  Man, it just doesn't get any better than this.
