The Miyuki anime only has a vague resemblance to the source manga. It ends halfway through the manga, while garbling the timing and meaning behind the events it actually does cover. It's still a great anime, that I've enjoyed watching and rewatching. The voice acting of Miyuki-imouto is priceless and overwhelmingly charming. But that still doesn't excuse getting the source work wrong. As such, I've had to drop its ranking down from 104 all the way back to 150.
Also, it means that previously the manga wasn't necessary to read, because the anime was already available. However, now the manga is necessary to read, because the anime doesn't remotely cover the source material correctly. Now people must both watch the anime and read the manga, since both are so valuable. Such is fate.
Meanwhile, two episodes of Dragon Ball Kai have been subbed, so it looks like Dragon Ball is back on the menu, boys. This ups our winter watching list up to 18 shows, counting the Fairy Tail that starts airing in February. This is how things look like in terms of excitement meter now:
1. Shirobako
2. One Piece
3. Happiness Charge Pretty Cure
4. Assassination Classroom
5. The Idolm@ster: Cinderalla Girls
6. Juuou Mujin no Fafnir
7. Dragon Ball Kai Buu
8. Akatsuki no Yona
9. Sailor Moon
10. Naruto
11. Durara Shou
12. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders
13. Koufuku Graffiti
14. Junketsu no Maria
15. Sengoku Musou
16. Shinmai Maou no Testament
17. Seiken Tsukai no World Break
18. Fairy Tail
Koufuku Graffiti lost infinite points when it went back to stupid Shaft head tilts and weird poses and camera pans. Again, this works only with Bakemonogatari, and only for Bakemonogatari. Using it anywhere else is out of place and discombobulating. It makes absolutely no sense in a cheerful slice-of-life everyday heartwarming story like Koufuku to have awkwardly tilted heads like they're placed on demon's bodies or something. Everything Shaft touches turns to ash because of their complete inability to understand the concept of 'time, place, occasion.'
Sailor Moon is always low on my excitement meter because it only comes out once every two weeks, so it only gets half the points as normal. Even so, with the start of the new chibi-usa arc things look to be getting better. I'm actually looking forward to Sailor Moon again these days. Assassination Classroom is looking very solid, Juuou Mujin no Fafnir is way better than I expected, and Junketsu no Maria, Sengoku Musou and Shinmai Maou no Testament are just barely hanging in there. For some reason I'm watching Seiken Tsukai no World Break, maybe because all imouto-ai stories are innately good(?), so I guess I'll throw that into the list as well while I'm at it. Isuca comes out in three days, after which our full winter schedule will be complete and judgeable.
