I've created a new category of anime -- neither bad, mediocre, good or great -- perhaps the best term is 'tolerable.' Anime that's tolerable to watch so long as you're also playing Magic. The vast majority of summer anime falls into this category.
'I want to love you till your dying day' is at least a good anime, perhaps the great anime replacement of Release that Witch I was looking for. I'll have to see some more episodes before I can definitively say it's great, but so far so good. It's the premier debuting anime this summer that's reached the 'good' threshold.
It features great art, an intriguing unique setting, and a lovable all-cute-young-girl cast. I have no idea where the story is going but I'm excited to find out.
Futsutsuka na Akujou is a good series, worth watching while actually paying attention. Both the protagonist and antagonist are humorous, cute girls. The ancient Chinese setting is lavish and the art is worthy of it.
As for the rest, these shows made the 'tolerable' mark:

Otome Kaijuu Caramelise
