100 Kanojo gets a well-deserved second season, Kanojo mo Kanojo does not get a well deserved 3rd season:

It's a story of hits and misses as the fall 2023 season winds down.  Tearmoon Empire, Kanojo mo Kanojo, Spy x Family and Goblin Slayer have ended with no promise of renewal.  Hyakkano and The Eminence in Shadow got a continuation notice.

I suspect Spy x Family and Goblin Slayer will eventually get a new season, but apparently no time soon.  My biggest regret is Kanojo mo Kanojo.  This second season was weak, slow and repetitive.  It did nothing to improve the brand -- but the ending to the manga is so brilliant and inspiring.  If they had just adapted the ending instead of this boring middle portion, everyone would have loved the show.  But they chose to do the second season, weren't receiving popular reception, and now there won't be a third.  The window of opportunity has passed.  I told them that if they only had the budget for one more season, focus on the final third of the series, not the middle third, but nobody listens to me.

Tearmoon Empire reached a good ending point.  The web novel goes on for thousands of chapters so I guess they could make endless new episodes of anime, but Mia achieved her goal of escaping the guillotine so now is as good a time to end the story as any.  I have no issues with the animators' decisions on this front.

I always said 100 Kanojo gets better as time goes on -- and now we're going to see that better part.  The second season is just as emotional and hysterical as the first.  Especially if they get to his cousin Chiyo and the gal with limited expressive range Ahko, the two best girls after Shizuka.  (Sadly in the preview finale it didn't get to either of those girls, so maybe really we need to be waiting for the third season.)

Much to my dismay there's still no Sailor Moon Cosmos bluray translation, so it would be difficult to adjust my rankings without full knowledge of how good my series really are.  At least the Custom Cars ova of Princess Principal came out in a timely fashion and was great as expected.
